The opposition-allied team, which includes Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Funyula MP Oundo Mudenyo, has called on supporters to turn up in large numbers for what is expected to be one of its biggest gatherings in recent weeks.
The group was last seen publicly on April 26 during a political event in Kisumu, where thousands of supporters turned out to welcome them. Since then, the leaders have maintained a relatively low profile, fueling speculation about their next political move.
Their planned return in Machakos now signals renewed political activity as the country slowly shifts attention towards the 2027 General Election.
According to the programme released by the organizers, the leaders will begin their tour with a church service at AIC Kyanda on Sunday morning. The service is expected to provide an opportunity for the delegation to interact with local residents before embarking on a series of political engagements across the county.
After the church service, the team will head to Machakos Town, where a major public rally has been scheduled for the afternoon. The event is expected to attract supporters from different parts of Ukambani and neighboring regions.
Later in the day, the leaders will proceed to Mlolongo for another public rally as they continue their campaign to mobilize support around their political agenda.
Speaking ahead of the event, members of the Linda Mwananchi camp urged residents to attend in large numbers and listen to their message regarding the country's political and economic direction.
“Come out in large numbers and join us as we engage wananchi on the issues affecting the country,” the leaders said in a message shared ahead of the rally.
The choice of Machakos is politically significant given the influence of the Ukambani region in national politics.
The area remains a key support base for Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, whose political influence continues to shape voting patterns across the region.
Political analysts believe the turnout at the Machakos events could provide an indication of the level of support the Linda Mwananchi movement enjoys outside its traditional strongholds.
The rallies are also expected to focus on governance, the economy, the cost of living, and ongoing political realignments ahead of the next election cycle.
With opposition politics beginning to gather momentum once again, all eyes will be on Machakos to see whether the leaders can recreate the enthusiasm witnessed during their previous public appearances.
