Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla Clash on Air Over Second Wife Debate

Kenyan media couple Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla recently sparked a heated yet humorous debate on television after disagreeing about the idea of men taking second wives.

The discussion happened during a relationship segment on their show, where the couple was hosting a conversation about modern marriage and changing attitudes toward polygamy.

The topic quickly turned lively as the two presenters found themselves on opposite sides of the debate.

During the program, a female guest argued that many modern men no longer have the courage to openly marry a second wife.

According to her, men in earlier generations were more decisive and confident about making such marital choices.

She questioned why some men today appear hesitant or fearful when it comes to making major decisions within their marriages.

“What happened to the courage of our grandfathers? Since when did men start fearing women?” the guest asked, adding that men should be able to make firm decisions about their relationships.

Rashid Abdalla appeared to partially agree with the guest’s perspective. He admitted that the remarks made him reflect on the issue and suggested that some men seek second wives for reasons similar to those that led them to marry their first partners.

However, Lulu Hassan strongly challenged that argument.

In a moment that drew attention from viewers, Lulu questioned why a married man would feel the need to look for another wife in the first place.

“Itakuwa na lazima gani uende ukatafute mke wa pili?” she asked in Swahili, meaning, “Why would it even be necessary to go and look for a second wife?”

Rashid responded with a witty comment that sparked laughter in the studio. He asked why anyone searches for a first wife to begin with, suggesting that relationships are often driven by personal needs and choices. While Rashid laughed at his remark, Lulu reacted calmly with a smile as the discussion continued.

Another argument raised during the conversation was that some people believe an openly acknowledged second wife might be better than secret affairs that could lead to mistrust or even health risks within a marriage.

The debate quickly spread online after clips from the show circulated on social media. Kenyans shared mixed reactions, with some supporting Lulu’s position that commitment should remain within one marriage, while others sided with Rashid, noting that polygamy is accepted in certain cultures and religious traditions.

Despite the disagreement, many viewers praised the couple for openly discussing sensitive relationship issues and creating conversations that resonate with many families across Kenya.
