“Wangapi Watapigia Ruto Kura?” Methu Left in Disbelief After Crowd’s Response at Gachagua Rally

Democratic Change Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has stepped up his nationwide mobilization campaign as the 2027 General Election draws closer, using packed rallies to consolidate opposition support and sharpen attacks on President William Ruto’s administration.

During a charged rally in Naivasha, Gachagua was joined by Nyandarua Senator John Methu, whose fiery remarks and crowd engagement stole the spotlight.

The gathering, largely made up of opposition supporters, erupted into chants critical of the government, reflecting growing public frustration over economic hardships and unmet campaign promises.

Addressing the crowd, Senator Methu revealed that opposition leaders are engaged in consultations aimed at agreeing on a single presidential candidate to challenge President Ruto in 2027.

He emphasized that unity would be key to unseating the incumbent and asked supporters whether they would rally behind a unified opposition flag bearer once one is identified.

Methu mentioned Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as some of the names being considered.

The crowd responded with loud cheers, signaling readiness to back any candidate endorsed by the opposition coalition.

According to Methu, the overwhelming response demonstrated a strong appetite for unity among opposition supporters.

The rally took a humorous turn when Methu posed a playful but pointed question to the crowd. “Wangapi watapigia Ruto kura?” he asked, before jokingly adding that if President Ruto were to face a goat in an election, which one they would vote for.

The crowd burst into laughter and, amid cheers and whistles, jokingly declared they would choose the goat over the President.

The remark left Methu momentarily in disbelief as he observed that none of the attendees appeared willing to support President Ruto in the hypothetical contest.

Leaders on the podium laughed along, with Methu noting that the response was a clear reflection of the prevailing mood among the gathered supporters.

Earlier in the day, while addressing residents in Kinamba area of Naivasha Constituency, Gachagua launched a sharp critique of President Ruto’s leadership.

He accused the President of dismissing genuine public concerns and failing to deliver on key promises made during the 2022 campaign.

Gachagua argued that rising costs of living, heavy taxation, and stalled development projects have left many Kenyans disillusioned.

He maintained that no amount of political rhetoric would change the reality facing ordinary citizens, insisting that the ultimate judgment would be made at the ballot box.

“The people of Kenya are watching and listening,” Gachagua said, adding that leaders cannot insult voters and still expect their support.

He urged Kenyans to remain engaged and peaceful as political temperatures rise, noting that change can only be achieved through democratic means.
