"Uhuru Will Make You a Wantam" Gachagua Tells Ruto, Claim How Uhuru Rejected his Offer

DCP Party leader Rigathi Gachagua has sensationally claimed that retired President Uhuru Kenyatta is actively working with the United Opposition to ensure President William Ruto becomes a one-term president, setting the stage for a fierce political showdown ahead of the next General Election.

Speaking during a press briefing on Tuesday, Gachagua alleged that President Ruto recently made a strategic attempt to woo Uhuru back into his political camp in an effort to counter the growing strength of the opposition.

However, according to Gachagua, the move failed spectacularly after Uhuru reportedly rejected the offer outright.

Gachagua claimed that Ruto personally visited Uhuru at his Ichaweri home in Gatundu, hoping to persuade the former president to help neutralize opposition influence, particularly in the vote-rich Mt Kenya region.

The DCP boss alleged that the visit did not yield the desired outcome, as Uhuru declined to be drawn into what he described as divisive political schemes.

According to Gachagua, Ruto’s plan was to use Uhuru’s influence to split the United Opposition vote in Mt Kenya, thereby weakening the coalition’s chances in the next election.

“That plan was rejected,” Gachagua asserted, adding that Uhuru was unwilling to be used to undermine regional unity.

In a pointed warning to the president, Gachagua claimed he told Ruto that aligning with Uhuru at this stage would only hasten his political downfall.

“Uhuru will make you a wantam,” Gachagua said, suggesting that the former president’s political positioning is now firmly opposed to Ruto’s re-election bid.

The former Deputy President further hinted at a possible political rapprochement between himself and Uhuru, a development that could significantly reshape Mt Kenya politics.

While the two leaders were fierce rivals during the 2022 General Election, emerging reports suggest they have since buried the hatchet and are now working together to present a united front.

Such an alliance, if fully realized, could derail Ruto’s efforts to fragment the Mt Kenya vote, a region that played a decisive role in his 2022 victory and remains critical as he seeks a second term.

Gachagua expressed confidence that the opposition is on course to defeat Ruto, declaring that the political landscape has shifted dramatically.

“The ODM original is gone. The mountain is gone. We will get 70+1 and make him a one-term president,” he stated.

However, he urged Kenyans to remain patient, noting that the United Opposition is taking its time to consolidate support and will not rush to unveil its presidential flag bearer.
