UDA Senator Is Thrown Out Over Alleged

NEWS IN: Senate Comes To A Standstill As  Misconduct, Details
Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thang’wa has been expelled from a significant Senate committee, stirring controversy and drawing strong reactions.

Reports say his removal is due to misconduct, though the exact nature of the allegations remains unclear.

In a recent political shake-up, Thang’wa was stripped of his role as chair of the Senate Roads and Transport Committee.

He was also removed from other influential positions in the chamber.

Thang’wa has responded by saying that he expected such a move.

He describes it as a “purge” targeting his political circle.

Despite losing power, he vows to keep working for his constituents without backing down.

Some analysts link his removal to larger political tensions.

Thang’wa has been linked with allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, whose relationship with President William Ruto has soured.

Critics suggest that the reshuffle is part of a broader effort to weaken Gachagua’s influence in the Senate.

Thang’wa, for his part, insists that his dismissal is not a defeat.

He says it frees him to challenge the government more openly. He also expressed thanks to his party for “freeing up his schedule,” implying he will now devote more time to oversight and service.

This is not the only controversy surrounding the senator. Earlier, he drew attention by asking the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate a steep land rates hike in Kiambu County.

He also issued a warning to the county government over a protracted doctors’ strike, demanding swift action or threatening to escalate the matter in the Senate.
