Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Wednesday convened a closed-door meeting with more than sixty Members of Parliament from the Mt Kenya region .
In an effort to strengthen unity and consolidate support for the Kenya Kwanza government.
The high-level session, which lasted about ninety minutes, focused on regional development, political coordination, and the upcoming by-elections in Mbeere North and Narok Town.
According to reports, the meeting reviewed the progress of national and county projects, including roads, water supply.
And electrification programs, while assessing Kindiki’s performance one year after assuming office.
Lawmakers also provided feedback on key national initiatives such as the Social Health Authority (SHA) rollout and urged the government to fast-track incomplete projects.
In his social media statement, Kindiki confirmed that the discussions centered on strengthening collaboration and ensuring that development reaches all corners of the Mt Kenya region.
Tigania East MP Mpuri Amburi described the meeting as cordial, saying it aimed to build cohesion among leaders and prevent political divisions.
Sources disclosed that Kindiki called on the MPs to actively defend the government’s record and communicate its achievements to counter criticism from the opposition.
He reportedly emphasized unity and cautioned against unnecessary political flamboyance ahead of the upcoming by-elections, advising leaders to focus on strategic grassroots mobilization.
The Mbeere North contest is being closely watched as a key test of Kenya Kwanza’s influence in the region.
Wth competition between UDA’s Leonard Muriuki and Newton Karish, who is backed by former Attorney General Justin Muturi and the Democracy for the Citizens Party.
Kindiki is said to have promised regular visits to the region every few months to monitor progress and ensure stalled projects resume promptly.
