"Eti Mnasemaje?" Baragoi Crowd Bursts into Chants, Leaving Ruto Surprised

President William Ruto on Sunday held a rally in Samburu County, where he engaged locals on his administration’s development agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking in Baragoi during the laying stone of Baragoi Modern Market, Ruto promised to bring development projects in the county saying it has lagged behind for long.

The president was momentarily surprised after the crowd erupted into loud “Tutam!” chants - a slogan seen as a show of support for his re-election bid.

Smiling and visibly amused, Ruto asked, “Eti mnasemaje?” prompting the crowd to chant “Tutam!” even louder, leaving the President laughing in surprise.

Ruto urged residents to remain united, saying Kenya’s prosperity depends on national cohesion.

Earlier, the Head of State attended a Sunday service at ACK All Saints’ Pro-Cathedral Church in Maralal, where he decried poor leadership in the past, saying it had slowed down economic progress.

He was accompanied by Governor Lati Lelelit, Governor Ole Lenku Lesuuda, Senator Hezena Lemaletian, and MPs from Samburu East and West, among other leaders.
