Waende Ground: Ruth Odinga Warns ODM Leaders Not to Wait for Oburu's Endorsement

Kisumu Member of Parliament Ruth Odinga has offered a candidate reflection on what awaits leaders within the Orange Democratic Movement. 

Following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Speaking during a public gathering.

 Ruth declared that the political landscape within the party is set to change significantly, emphasizing that loyalty alone will no longer guarantee political survival.

Ruth Odinga made it clear that the era of automatic political endorsements had come to an end. 

“Hakuna kuinuliwa mkono tena,” she said, meaning that leaders must now win their positions through the will of the people rather than through party declarations. 

She noted that the time had come for every leader to face the electorate directly and prove their worth through their work and connection with the people.

According to Ruth, Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga will now play a guiding role in ensuring that the values and legacy of Raila Odinga continue to shape the direction of the party. 

However, she stressed that Raila’s absence means that every leader must take personal responsibility for their political future.

Her statement has stirred discussion within ODM and among the public, with many viewing it as a call for accountability and a shift from traditional politics based on patronage. 

Political analysts have noted that Ruth’s remarks could mark the beginning of a more competitive and transparent era within the party.
