Why ODM SG Edwin Sifuna Missed ODM Delegation Meeting In Bondo
ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has sent his heartfelt condolences to the families of Kenyans who lost their lives while mourning the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at Kasarani and Nyayo Stadiums.

In a statement released on Friday, Sifuna described the incidents as “deeply tragic and painful,” 

Noting that the affected families had already been grieving the loss of a national icon and were now facing a double tragedy.

He urged the government to ensure that proper investigations are carried out to establish the circumstances that led to the deaths and injuries witnessed during the events.

“It is heartbreaking that some of our compatriots who came out to celebrate Baba’s life and legacy ended up losing their own. 

We mourn with their families and stand in solidarity with all those affected,” Sifuna said.

The ODM SG further appealed for calm among supporters, calling on Kenyans to honor Raila’s memory in peace and unity. 

He emphasized that the party leadership is in close contact with relevant authorities and humanitarian organizations to assist the bereaved families with funeral and medical arrangements.

Witnesses had earlier reported that the massive crowds at both Kasarani and Nyayo Stadiums .

Caused stampedes as thousands tried to gain entry to pay their last respects to the long-serving opposition leader.

 Police confirmed several fatalities and multiple injuries, sparking public concern over crowd control measures during national mourning events.

Sifuna concluded his message by reaffirming ODM’s commitment to ensuring that the fallen supporters are honored appropriately during Raila Odinga’s final journey.

 “Their devotion to Baba’s cause will never be forgotten. We owe them justice, dignity, and remembrance,” he stated.

The tragic incidents have drawn national sympathy as the country continues to mourn Raila Odinga, a towering figure in Kenya’s political history.
