Trouble in Kenya Government as it's Cabinet Secretary face reshuffling due to under performing

Three days before his sudden death on October 15, 2025, former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga reportedly expressed dissatisfaction.

A Cabinet Secretary (CS) he had recommended for appointment, hinting at a looming government reshuffle.

According to sources, Odinga, while in India for medical treatment, called a close friend and declared.

“We can make some changes when I come back home,” signaling his intent to push for changes in President William Ruto’s administration.

Odinga, who died of a heart attack in Kerala, India, had forged a political pact with Ruto in March 2025, integrating his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) into the government.

This alliance saw ODM allies like John Mbadi (Treasury), Hassan Joho (Mining), and Opiyo Wandayi (Energy) appointed as CSs.

However, sources claim Odinga grew frustrated with one appointee’s performance, prompting him to say, “I’ll talk to Ruto,” about a potential reshuffle to strengthen the coalition’s influence.

The revelation, emerging after Odinga’s state funeral on underscores his enduring role as a political kingmaker.
