The Kenyan gospel fraternity is mourning the loss of celebrated musician Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua.
Better known as Betty Bayo, who died while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital.
According to reports, the gospel star had been battling leukemia, which had progressed to an advanced stage.
Her passing on November 10 has left many heartbroken.
A day before her death, Betty shared a heartfelt post on Facebook declaring her faith in Christ, a message that now carries profound meaning for her followers.
Her ex-partner, Pastor Victor Kanyari, confirmed the sad news, while Bishop Muthee Kiengei paid tribute to her bravery and devotion, describing her as a faithful servant of God.
Betty Bayo gained national recognition with her popular song “Eleventh Hour”, which touched many lives with its message of hope and perseverance. Her music and strong faith made her one of the most admired gospel artists in Kenya.
Despite enduring public scrutiny after her separation from Pastor Kanyari, she continued to live with grace and optimism. In 2021, she married Hiram Gitau, known as Tosh, in a traditional ceremony that marked a new beginning.
